Glass painting – Beginner

This post is for those who are interested in doing glass painting as a beginner. I started learning this a few weeks back, and thought to share the knowledge to some one who are looking for a start.

It is more popular these days for decorating home and as a special gift for friends/family. All you need is to have a little imagination and patience :). So lets start.

First we will look into the tools/materials required for painting.

Glass piece (usually 2mm thick) – its upto you.
Glass paint
Tracing paper
Outliner/Marker pen – either one
Color brushes(optional)
Designs/ glass painting design
A soft cloth to wipe excess paint or any mistakes.

You will get lots of shades for painting, which you can buy it from book shops/online. Design books also available from the market. If you have access to internet then you can download the one which you like and take a printed copy.

Method

Take a clean glass piece of any size.
Choose a design from a book or download from internet.
Fix the design on one side of glass, you can glue it with glue tap on four sides of paper. So that it will not move if any distraction occurs.
Take the glass outliner. Usually it has got long pointed neck so that you can directly paint use with it, like a mehandi cone.
Draw the design on the glass, it will dry very fast.
After completing the design outline, use matching colors to fill it. Perfect colors will make perfect painting.
Wait for few minutes to get dry and turn the glass. Your glass painting is ready now.
Now you need to frame it, give it to any photo framing shop and its ready.

Organic Farming

Farming is getting more popular these days, especially organic farming. This is due to the thinking that the we are consuming veggies and fruits dipped in pesticides; that too the pesticides which are banned by the government. Organic means veggies and fruits that are grown without using synthetic pesticides. Now people began to think of cultivating fresh organic veggies, that can be cultivated as bulk or group with less space. Fruit plants usually take lot spaces which are big plants/trees, and take lot more years to grow and produce fruits.There are lot farmers with more success rate in organic farming.

Terrace farming is one such way of farming where one can cultivate for home use. Like others this also needs patience and dedication from planting seeds to its full growth.

Internet of Things and its future – IoT

Internet Of Things (IoT) is a popular word now in tech world. What sort of a thing is this? A Thing is something which we can observe and is physically available. It can be literally anything or everything that we encounter in our daily life which includes machines, appliances, buildings, vehicles, people, animals, goods, plants etc. The internet of things is a network of physical objects. We will be connected to things that can make changes to our life and society.

Internet has grown tremendously with IPv6, which has plenty of ip addresses which we can possibly add to anything/objects in this universe. This effectively gives unique identity to a thing.

Example

Lets consider a car (considered as smart car). The owner of the car needs to know who is currently driving the car, who are in the passenger seats from anywhere in the world.

Lets consider another one. Consider a chair, (which is considered as smart chair) if someone needs to know who occupies it, or is it still unoccupied from anywhere in the world.

How we can accomplish internet of things?

The thing needs to have an unique identity which uniquely identifies from other thing. A medium to communicate. Add sensors to the thing which act as the sensory organs (hear, smell, taste, touch, vision) like ours that monitors the environment. The involvement of smart phones will be enormous.

What will we do with internet of things?

We can connect to things, search things, manage things, play with things, control things and much more.

Future of internet of things?

We usually says future is unpredictable. What will be after 20 years? Is internet same as 20 years before? It will change the whole world with people connected to things in all ways, may be people can’t live without connecting to things. Let wait and see. We might be seeing technocracy, where an elite of technical experts controls the society, government or industry.

Jewelry Making – Bracelet

Jewelry making is one of my hobbies. If you get some spare time, look for some thing creative.Today we’ll make a simple yet attractive hand bracelet. It makes a great gift for a young woman.

Materials required

Crystal pearl – small (any colour)
- Depends on wrist size. Normally 10-15 is required
Cap
- Placing on both sides of pearl.
Eye pin
- To connect each pearl.
Chain with lock
- Lock for the chain.
Round nose pliers
- To bend the eye pin. Normally one side of eye pin will be locked, the other side you need to bend it using this plier.

Method

Place caps on both sides of the pearl. No need to glue it.
Insert the pearl along with the caps into the eye pin.
Bend the other side of eye pin with the plier, don’t lock it.
Hook another eye pin into that bended area and lock it.
Add the pearl with the caps on either side.
Hook and lock until all the pearls are added.
Lastly add the chain lock to join the both ends of bracelet.

This seems to be easy, but how to get the exact color from shop? This seems to be a big task to find the color code. The color may vary slightly based on type of paint and brand, but don’t bother much on that, shop owner can help you put that in color combinations preview software.
